U19香港健球預備隊於新加坡出戰「SJI-SINGAPORE ASIA INVITATIONAL YOUTH & JUNIOR KIN-BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019」，參賽組別分別有男子組、女子組及混合組。可譽健球隊三位成員成功入選U19香港健球預備隊，代表香港出賽，他們分別是中四級洪祖澤同學、中五級李先豐同學以及中六級陳立寧同學。經過一輪激烈的賽事，U19香港健球預備隊獲得佳績，為港爭光：

        要成功入選香港預備隊，必須具備一定的實力，負責選拔的教練還會考驗同學的態度。憑著同學堅毅的態度，最終獲得了代表香港的機會。他們認真作賽，於比賽時表現應有的水準，最後獲得優秀的成績，肯定了自己的實力。

Three of our students, Hung Cho Chak, Lee Sin Fung and Chan Lap Ning, are shortlisted for U19 Hong Kong Kin-Ball Team. Together with other talented teammates, they represented Hong Kong to compete in SJI-Singapore Asia Invitational Youth & Junior Kin-Ball Championships 2019. The competition was held in Singapore and three groups, Boys’ Group, Girls’ Group and Mixed Group, were arranged. After a series of exciting games, the Hong Kong team received magnificent achievements as follows:

In order to be selected by professional Kin-Ball coaches, without a doubt, every team member must be talented in this sport. More importantly, they must have positive attitudes such as, perseverance, devotion, teamwork and more so that they can make improvements progressively and strive hard to give their best. We hope they will again take on the world to win glory for Hong Kong in the near future.

　　香港，是個彈丸之地，人煙之稠密，土地之匱乏，是每個香港人都面對的問題。填海，是其中一個方向，讓人創建遼闊無邊的夢想。

　　可譽同學參加了以「創建你夢想 @ 東涌填海土地」為題的繪畫及填色比賽，在230份作品中，可譽同學囊括了高中組及初中組的冠、亞軍，可喜可賀。

         獲得填色比賽亞軍的黃天悅同學在作品畫了中華白海豚，她希望填海工程完成後，仍然可以看到海豚暢泳。天悅希望人類的建設能與環境保護並存。獲得初中組繪畫比賽冠軍的黃芷晴同學希望透過畫作，繪畫出東涌的新面貌，她希望成長的地方變得越來越好。而獲得高中組繪畫比賽冠軍的葉凱迪同學一方面希望東涌保留原有生態面貌，她還希望填海工程完成後東涌有一番新的現象。

       可譽同學以藝術表達出對東涌未來的盼望，同學們特別希望填海工程不破壞自然生態，他們希望與大自然和諧並存。同學們把對環境的愛護、對社區的承擔呈現給評判以及東涌的居民，他們希望將來東涌變得多元化，成為綠色社區。

The Sustainable Lantau Office organised a Coloring Contest and Drawing Competition to enhance the students' understanding of the reclamation works under the Tung Chung New Town Extension Project.

A total of 230 works including our students’ were submitted to the organizing committee. We were overjoyed to announce that we obtained four awards, namely, the champion and the first runner-up in the senior secondary section, and the champion and the first runner-up in the junior secondary section respectively.

One of the winning students, Wong Tin Yuet, chose the Chinese white dolphins as the theme of her painting. She hoped she would be able to watch Chinese white dolphins swimming freely in the sea upon completion of the reclamation project. It is crucial to harmonise economic growth and environmental protection. Another winner, Wong Tsz Ching drew a new look of Tung Chung and looked forward to better developments in her home town. The champion of the senior secondary section, Yip Hoi Tik, desired to see eco conservation in Tung Chung in a new era.

Ho Yu students showed strong awareness and expressed their views on development of Tung Chung through their artistic works. By striking a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, they all hoped Tung Chung would develop into a diversified and green community.

由新界青年聯會舉辦的「新界區傑出學生選舉2019」旨在表彰區內學業體藝成績卓越、熱心服務社群、關心社會及國家大事的優秀學生。本年度，我校共有六位同學獲選為新界區優秀學生，包括初中組的周俊輝、余詠琪、何光亮，以及高中組的鄭芷棠、丁黎文和李樂程，為新界區獲獎人數最多的學校。

            由離島區青年聯會主辦的「第十五屆離島區傑出學生選舉」結果已經公佈，可譽共有14位同學獲獎，其中S5B班鄭芷棠同學獲得高中組冠軍，S5A班李樂程同學獲得高中組亞軍。在初中方面，S3A班余詠琪同學獲得亞軍，S3B班周俊輝同學獲得季軍。參與傑出學生選舉對同學來說是一個挑戰，這個挑戰讓他們追求突破、更了解自己。

小二級陳應元同學在跆拳道方面甚有天份，他自四歲接觸跆拳道，短短三年已考獲藍帶等級。每個星期，應元堅持到校外進行訓練，這份堅持，源於他對跆拳道的熱愛。

應元積極參加不同的公開比賽，在比賽場上，應元需要面對不同對手，準備充足的他毫不怯場，勇於與對手切磋。他不怕失敗，體現了跆拳道百折不屈的精神：不膽怯、不畏懼，面對每一場挑戰。

Our P.2 student, Chan Ying Yuen, is a talented Taekwondo player. He started playing Taekwondo since he was 4 years old and attained the blue belt within the next three years. He receives regular training every week. Even though the training is hard, due to his passion for the sport, he never gives up.

Ying Yuen has actively participated in various open competitions. He is always well-prepared; he competes against other opponents with full confidence. Besides, he is not afraid of failure and bravely meets every challenge ahead. Thus, he has performed satisfactorily in different competitions and won many prizes. The awards that he received in 2019 are given below:

We are very proud of Ying Yuen! We hope that he will keep putting his effort into Taekwondo as well as applying his positive attitudes in his daily life.

可譽同學參與了由香港工程師學會──師傳薈主辦的「青年工程師體驗計劃2019──青年義『工』在社區」，比賽旨在讓學生利用工程知識，去解決社區的問題。參賽同學以智能種植系統「I-Tree」參與比賽，最後奪得桂冠。以下是獲獎的詳情：

            在上學年，高中許立邦、葉善權和王承韜同學於「WYNG Philomathia Machine Learning/AI Competition 2018-19」成為了勝出隊伍，與其他勝出隊伍(來自聖保祿學校、聖士提反書院、瑪利曼中學)一同前往英國，參觀劍橋大學，體驗大學課程，更進一步了解當地科研的發展。

            在英國之旅，三位同學與章景恆老師遊覽了有八百多年歷史的劍橋大學，參觀了學校的工程系。同學更有幸與劍橋大學的教授和學生共進晚餐，度過難忘的晚上。立邦、善權和承韜不忘學習，他們研究如何修改參賽的機器，然後把設計圖交給劍橋大學的教授和博士生，希望能夠獲得寶貴的意見。教授和博士生細心講解機械和程式的關係，讓三位同學了解更多AI建構的方法。

            三位同學了解到AI在英國的應用情況。在英國，人們把AI應用在日常生活，例如種植。這一切的體驗，讓可譽同學大開眼界，明白到要對AI有更進一步的認識，必須下更多的功夫。參加「WYNG Philomathia Machine Learning/AI Competition 2018-19」，章老師和三位同學懷著對科研的熱誠，埋頭苦幹作研究，希望在科學的海洋探索。及後的英國之旅，讓老師和同學體會到科學海洋的廣闊，相信他們會繼續以堅毅的心，認真進行科學研究。

A team of Ho Yu students, namely Hui Lap Pong, Wong Shing To and Yip Sin Kuen honorably won WYNG Philomathia Machine Learning/AI Competition 2018-19 and was entitled to a weeklong all-expenses paid trip to England this summer together with the other two winning teams from St. Paul's Convent School and St. Stephen's College, respectively. Accompanied by their coach teacher, Mr. Cheung King Hang, they experienced college life at the University of Cambridge and explored the local development of science research.

During the trip, our team was granted a golden opportunity to visit the University of Cambridge, one of the oldest and renowned universities in the world with a history dating back more than 800 years. They paid a visit to the Department of Engineering and were invited to meet the professors and PhD students of Cambridge and have dinner together. ( It was such an unforgettable night! Besides, in order to make further improvements on their winning machine, the three students modified their plan on the design and sought for professional advice from the professors and PhD students. They had a deeper understanding of AI development after receiving detailed and professional explanation on the relationship between mechanics and applications.

The trip definitely inspired the participants by further exposing them to the field of science development. Our team did not just have their knowledge about how science shapes the life of the local community, but also learned that AI is widely used in different industries such as farming in England. Through the competition and the trip, they have realized that perseverance and a lot more hard work is undoubtedly necessary to further explore AI applications. Passionate in science research and experiments, they are determined to experience the wonder of science by strengthening their knowledge, meeting the challenges and contributing towards the scientific and technological world in the future.

歡迎小一同學加入可譽這個大家庭！2019年10月18日，我們為小一同學舉辦了小一滿月活動，慶祝同學升讀小學一個多月。當天禮堂相當熱鬧，大部分同學的爸爸媽媽都撥冗出席活動，與老師和同學歡聚，見證孩子成長重要的一刻。

除了班主任分享小一同學的學習情況，我們還邀請了家長分享，訴說學習生活的點滴。小一同學收到老師的心意卡和小禮品，家長們收到小一同學送上的驚喜，那就是各班的精彩演出了。同學們小小年紀，已經具備責任心，他們努力練習演出的節目，更於表演之前認真綵排。表演完畢，家長和老師紛紛送上熱烈的掌聲。

我們期望，孩子能夠在可譽健康快樂地成長，成為一個熱愛學習的人。在成長路上，爸爸媽媽、老師從不缺席，身邊還有同窗好友並肩而行，這是多麼值得感恩的事啊！

The arrival of a baby is a joyful event that is marked in Chinese culture by a number of different customs and rituals. A month after confinement, mother and child are presented to friends and relatives with a full moon celebration. Traditionally this is to celebrate the baby’s first month with the belief that they are more likely to carry on successfully into adulthood.

(This celebration is held to celebrate that the baby has survived the first month of their life, which means that they are more likely to survive into adulthood.)

Following this custom, P.1 Full Moon Celebration is held every year to celebrate our P.1 students’ first month of joyful school life at Ho Yu symbolizing a sustainable survival. More importantly, it provides a chance for them to show gratitude to their parents, teachers and fellow students for loving and taking care of them.

This year, on 18^th October, we were delighted to see the presence of more than 100 parents who came to witness the growth of their children at Ho Yu. They enjoyed listening to the sharing session by P.1 class teachers and a P.2 parent. The highlight of the event was definitely the class performances by all our P.1 newcomers. Making a great effort in their preparation, despite the limited time, each class gave a heartwarming performance to thank their parents and teachers. No wonder why the audience gave a big round of applause to show their appreciation towards their beloved children. Before taking a group photo of everyone, each child was presented a small gift and a greeting card prepared by their class teachers. Everyone finally brought the warmth and happiness home.

Ho Yu is a place where children can grow happily and bring out their full potential. They receive loving support from their parents, teachers and friends along the path of growth. We sincerely hope that they enjoy their learning experience (every minute learning) at Ho Yu and show gratitude to the people around them.

   小五級黃天悅同學參加了由離島婦聯主辦的「夢想閱讀計劃」，設計了兩本以自己為主角的個人化圖書。天悅挑選了「足球夢」以及「科研夢」，製成了《天悅的足球夢》以及《天悅的科研夢》兩本書。

   天悅小時候希望成為科學家，所以她特別喜歡《天悅的科研夢》。「夢想閱讀計劃」除了鼓勵天悅多閱讀，更讓她重新思考自己的夢想。她不知道將來會否成為科學家，不過她認為自己有很多需要學習的事物。今後她會努力學習，好讓將來成為能夠獨當一面的青年。

   閱讀，能夠擴闊讀者的眼光。「夢想閱讀計劃」更讓天悅成為一個對未來充滿期盼、有理想、肯上進的人。

Wong Tin Yuet, Charie, of P.5 participated in ‘Dream Reading Scheme’ organized by Hong Kong Outlying Islands Women’s Association. Based on Charie’s choices, two unique personalized readers in which she herself appears in the story as the main character, ‘My Dream to be a Scientist’ and ‘My Dream to be a Football Player’ have been produced.

The scheme aims to promote reading and encourage young kids to dream big. Charie particularly likes ‘My Dream to be a Scientist’ as has dreamt to become a scientist since childhood. Facing the challenges ahead, she would equip herself with necessary knowledge and skills hoping that she can make her dream come true one day.

We believe reading is definitely a useful tool to broaden one’s horizon. Taking part in the scheme motivates Charie to pursue her dream by taking an active role in her learning and becoming a perseverant and positive individual.

            5月4日，可譽同學參與無障礙生活體驗之旅，了解視障人士的日常生活，學會關懷他人，建立同理心。

            活動當日，參與同學到達香港盲人輔導會，兩位視障人士為同學講解各種輔助設施。在盲人生活體驗活動，同學戴上眼罩，走到街上體驗視障人士的生活，學習領路法技巧。何泳妍同學認為，戴上眼罩，失去光明，生活變得不容易。她學會珍惜所有，明白到關心、幫助視障人士的需要和意義。除此之外，泳妍欣賞視障人士樂觀的生活態度：「兩位視障人士帶領我們在街上行走，我們有說有笑，我感受到他們樂觀的生活態度。他們能夠勇敢地生活，活得像盛放的花，舒展美麗。」

            可譽同學明白到，擁有健全的身體，是一種福份。同學希望將來能貢獻社會，幫助身邊有需要的人，構建和諧共融的社會。

A group of students experienced being visually impaired by joining a programme organized by the Hong Kong Society for the Blind on 4 May. They first attended a briefing session in which they were introduced to different aids for the visually impaired. After that, they walked blindfolded through the streets in order to experience being without sight. One of the participants, Ho Wing Yin, found life without being able to see difficult. She realized the importance of treasuring what we owned and showing concern to people with disability. What’s more, she discovered the positive attitude of the visually impaired. “We were actually led by two people with visual impairment. They chatted freely and happily. I believe they are optimistic and brave people who have been striving hard to overcome the difficulties and inconvenience due to their blindness,” said Ho Wing Yin.

Ho Yu students know that being able-bodied is good fortune. They hope they are able to contribute to the society and help anyone in need with a view to achieving a harmonious and inclusive society.
