歡迎小一同學加入可譽這個大家庭!20191018日,我們為小一同學舉辦了小一滿月活動,慶祝同學升讀小學一個多月。當天禮堂相當熱鬧,大部分同學的爸爸媽媽都撥冗出席活動,與老師和同學歡聚,見證孩子成長重要的一刻。

除了班主任分享小一同學的學習情況,我們還邀請了家長分享,訴說學習生活的點滴。小一同學收到老師的心意卡和小禮品,家長們收到小一同學送上的驚喜,那就是各班的精彩演出了。同學們小小年紀,已經具備責任心,他們努力練習演出的節目,更於表演之前認真綵排。表演完畢,家長和老師紛紛送上熱烈的掌聲。

我們期望,孩子能夠在可譽健康快樂地成長,成為一個熱愛學習的人。在成長路上,爸爸媽媽、老師從不缺席,身邊還有同窗好友並肩而行,這是多麼值得感恩的事啊!

The arrival of a baby is a joyful event that is marked in Chinese culture by a number of different customs and rituals. A month after confinement, mother and child are presented to friends and relatives with a full moon celebration. Traditionally this is to celebrate the baby’s first month with the belief that they are more likely to carry on successfully into adulthood.

(This celebration is held to celebrate that the baby has survived the first month of their life, which means that they are more likely to survive into adulthood.)

Following this custom, P.1 Full Moon Celebration is held every year to celebrate our P.1 students’ first month of joyful school life at Ho Yu symbolizing a sustainable survival. More importantly, it provides a chance for them to show gratitude to their parents, teachers and fellow students for loving and taking care of them.


This year, on 18th October, we were delighted to see the presence of more than 100 parents who came to witness the growth of their children at Ho Yu. They enjoyed listening to the sharing session by P.1 class teachers and a P.2 parent. The highlight of the event was definitely the class performances by all our P.1 newcomers. Making a great effort in their preparation, despite the limited time, each class gave a heartwarming performance to thank their parents and teachers. No wonder why the audience gave a big round of applause to show their appreciation towards their beloved children. Before taking a group photo of everyone, each child was presented a small gift and a greeting card prepared by their class teachers. Everyone finally brought the warmth and happiness home.

Ho Yu is a place where children can grow happily and bring out their full potential. They receive loving support from their parents, teachers and friends along the path of growth. We sincerely hope that they enjoy their learning experience (every minute learning) at Ho Yu and show gratitude to the people around them.

We’ve Got a Winner!

English Story Writing Competition

Congratulations See Lok!

See Lok has won an English story writing competition held from March to August (18-19)organized by The Standard.

See Lok’s creative story titled ‘Defeating Evil’ was awarded the 2nd runner-up prize in the junior group of the 4th Story Writing Competition.

See Lok’s great work fully illustrates the courage and wisdom of the main character. His description of the art work was also well-written.

We are very proud of See Lok because this is a prestigious competition and students from many different renowned schools also took part in this contest.

   小五級黃天悅同學參加了由離島婦聯主辦的「夢想閱讀計劃」,設計了兩本以自己為主角的個人化圖書。天悅挑選了「足球夢」以及「科研夢」,製成了《天悅的足球夢》以及《天悅的科研夢》兩本書。

   天悅小時候希望成為科學家,所以她特別喜歡《天悅的科研夢》。「夢想閱讀計劃」除了鼓勵天悅多閱讀,更讓她重新思考自己的夢想。她不知道將來會否成為科學家,不過她認為自己有很多需要學習的事物。今後她會努力學習,好讓將來成為能夠獨當一面的青年。

   閱讀,能夠擴闊讀者的眼光。「夢想閱讀計劃」更讓天悅成為一個對未來充滿期盼、有理想、肯上進的人。

 


Wong Tin Yuet, Charie, of P.5 participated in ‘Dream Reading Scheme’ organized by Hong Kong Outlying Islands Women’s Association. Based on Charie’s choices, two unique personalized readers in which she herself appears in the story as the main character, ‘My Dream to be a Scientist’ and ‘My Dream to be a Football Player’ have been produced.

The scheme aims to promote reading and encourage young kids to dream big. Charie particularly likes ‘My Dream to be a Scientist’ as has dreamt to become a scientist since childhood. Facing the challenges ahead, she would equip herself with necessary knowledge and skills hoping that she can make her dream come true one day.

We believe reading is definitely a useful tool to broaden one’s horizon. Taking part in the scheme motivates Charie to pursue her dream by taking an active role in her learning and becoming a perseverant and positive individual.

2019 17th Sports Day

            S6C班的何家智同學過了一個充實的暑假。除了回校與老師和同學研習高中的課程,家智更在728日至811日期間,於英國史丹福的英國FCV國際足球學院接受訓練,獲得寶貴的學習機會。

            踏足英倫」足球圓夢計劃由香港葛士寶足球會與英國FCV國際足球學院合辦,目的是發掘具潛力的球員,並在當中選出表現傑出者,前往英國接受兩周的訓練。家智在足球隊表現出色,態度積極,獲選成為「踏足英倫」足球圓夢計劃校園獎勵篇的得獎者。除了專業的足球訓練,家智還參加了不少交流和參觀活動,擴闊了眼光。

            家智一向在足球方面表現出色,為期十多天的習訓,讓家智明白到足球世界之大,精英之多。作為可譽足球隊的骨幹成員,他除了積極提升自己的實力,更會把在英國所學到的、所領略到的知識與見聞,分享給隊友。為了追求理想,相信家智會付出更多的努力,為團隊為自己爭取更多的殊榮!


Besides attending intensive make-up classes to prepare for the upcoming DSE exam, our S.6 student Ho Ka Chi has been spending his summer holiday receiving professional soccer training in England.

Ka Chi participated in INJOY Soccer Training Scheme organized by Gospel Football Club and FCV International Football Academy. The scheme aims at exploring soccer talents and granting them with professional soccer training. Due to his devotion and outstanding performance in the scheme, Ka Chi was selected as one of the four best participants who were eligible for joining a two-week training camp in FCV International Football Academy in England. Besides receiving professional training in the camp, he has broadened his horizon through visits and exchanges with local students.

Ka Chi has found the experience unforgettable and valuable. He met with many soccer talents in the camp and realized that he always has room for improvement in his knowledge and skills. Being one of the key members in our school’s soccer team, he is eager to share his experience and insights with his teammates. Keeping in mind that hard work is the key to success, he will continue to train hard and seize every opportunity to win in the future.

本校一向致力推動生命教育,認為只要學生的態度正確,在處理人生當中任何事情都懂得選擇正確的方向。因此在2018-2019 年度,本校參加了關愛校園獎勵計劃,並榮獲「推動生命教育」範中的榮譽學校殊榮。本校承諾在往後日子會更加著重學生的品德及抗逆能力,務求培養學生懂得解決生活中的難題。


At Ho Yu, we have been implementing Life Education, an important element of promoting caring school culture, over many years. Equipped with the positive and appropriate attitudes, students know how to tackle any challenges following the right direction. This year, we are overjoyed to receive an ‘Honorary School’ award of the ‘Life Education’ category under Caring School Award Scheme which is organized by Hong Kong Christian Service.

We will certainly continue to cultivate students’ generic skills and enhancing positive attitudes including resilience and maintain caring school culture.

本校同學於由香港遊樂場協會主辦的「迷你奧運會2019」獲得佳績。我們共有6名小六學生參加了小學組軟式飛鏢比賽,同學於比賽前只接受了4節訓練,但在比賽中表現優秀,以三戰三勝打入決賽。決賽對手與可譽同學水準相若,雙方各取一局。於決勝局中,可譽一直處於落後,最後一鏢憑著P6B班的施栢謙同學命中紅心,反敗為勝,勇奪冠軍。P6B班施栢謙同學獲得「紅心王」奬項。


Six of our Primary 6 students took part in Mini Olympics 2019 held by the Hong Kong Playground Association. After attending 4 sessions of training, our team competed in the Soft Tip Darts event. We won three games in the first round and successfully entered the finals. Excitement rose to its height after our team won the first game and the opponents won the second. In the final game, we lost a few shots at the beginning, but with perseverance, Sze Pak Him got a bullseye and turned defeat into victory. Our team won the Champion of Soft Tip Darts Competition and Pak Him also won the ‘Bullseye’ award.

本校於2018-2019年度參加了第一屆「樂繫校園獎計劃」,計劃由教育局、香港教育大學以及浸信會愛群社會服務處合辦,目的是鼓勵學校提供一個共融和諧的校園環境。整個計劃關注五大方向,包「學習連繫」、「行動連繫」、「情緒連繫」、「人際連繫」及「家舍連繫」。本校榮獲「行動連繫」的特別獎,以表揚本校提供多元學習及機會予不同能力的學生,讓他們發展所長。


Our school took part in the first “Hi-Five Student Engagement Award Scheme" conducted by Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service – Mental Wellness Service for Children and Youth jointly with the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong University of Education. The scheme aims at promoting and encouraging schools to cultivate a positive school culture in order to enhance students' sense of belonging in school. Its aim also concerns understanding students’ emotional, social and academic difficulties. We have been presented a special award for our effort in meeting the needs of diverse learners and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents.
